15.    ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT

 

County Administrator, Joe Kernell, announced Bob Mihalic and his wife Jennifer today delivered a 7 lb. 7 oz. baby boy, whom they named Patrick Joseph Mihalic. He stated everyone was doing well.

 

 

16.    REQUESTS AND MOTIONS BY COUNCIL MEMBERS

 

  • Councilor Baldwin stated he would like to draft a letter from County Council to Duke Energy requesting the citizenry of Greenville County not be charged one cent towards the $43 million payoff to Duke’s former board president due to what he perceived as board room politics.

 

  • Councilor Cates expressed his displeasure with the speaker who appeared before them and did not remove his hat. He felt the man’s actions showed a lack of respect for the Council Members and the office they held.

 

  • Chairman Kirven requested staff provide Council with a diagram of the recent reorganization of staff.

 

  • Councilor Norris announced an event was to be given for the kids of City View on July 28th. She asked Council Members to consider helping out with the funding for the event.  Ms. Norris also stated the City View community would be voting on the referendum for lights on July 24th.

 

  • Councilor Seman, on behalf of the SCTAC Board, asked Council Members to join them in welcoming SCTAC’s newest resident, Belgium based Picanol Corporation. She stated there were now 85 technology companies at SCTAC, which was an all-time high.

 

  • Councilor Payne wished Mr. Cates a Happy Birthday.
